“First we shape our buildings,
then our buildings shape us.”
-Winston Churchill
According to our beloved Kentucky author, Wendell Berry, trees stand as “horizons” and “sounds” of their place, a type of prayer and song that started as a little seed but lives on long after we “no longer rise in the mornings.”
Trees tell a story far higher and far longer than any of us; and so do our buildings. Our buildings harmonize with our trees in the long story of permanence, beauty, and hope.
Covenant aims to tell a better, more beautiful story to Richmond and Appalachia: the story of a kingdom and a home that we lost but brought to us again by our king.
Our building will allow us to tell this story with more flesh-and-blood, tactile reality. Our building will allow us to tell this story with more beauty and goodness. Our building will allow Covenant to tell this story long after we “no longer rise in the mornings.”
