“What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree.”
-Jesus
When we started Covenant Community Church in downtown Richmond, we undertook the mission of “A covenant community sharing the gospel of God’s kingdom in Richmond and into Appalachia.”
Richmond
Home of Eastern Kentucky University and receiving 100s of eastern Kentuckians each year as new residents–stands as the region’s cultural hub. Covenant is, to use Jesus’ words, a tree planted in Richmond, with our faces turned toward the eastern mountains, where the cities, the children, the buildings, the institutions–even the very ground–of Appalachia await the seeds of God’s coming kingdom.
